From Eggery to Entertainment

The original Eggery was first built as a 96 square foot egg processing facility for the family’s chicken farm. In the 70s, the building was expanded to become a cafe, art gallery, and event space. Norman Greenbaum (singer of “Spirit in the Sky”) penned and recorded a song called “Petaluma” about this exact property! Belly dancers, musicians, antique car owners, and other creatives gathered at the Eggery before it was converted to a home, where the daughter of the man who owned and ran the Eggery was born.

Legacy & Change

We purchased the Eggery in February, 2022 after falling in love with its land, building, and story. We were also fueled by a conversation we overheard at the open house - a young man was discussing with his realtor his plan to purchase the property and tear the house down, replacing it with a modern mansion. Something about the property losing its connection to its stories struck a nerve with us. Though we are recent transplants to Petaluma ourselves, we knew we wanted property to use for ourselves and for the community - and we know a gem when we see it! We want to be a part of a community that advocates for good changes while honoring the good that is already here - and this property created that opportunity.
